Lore states that the spell is in the eye of the beholder, and it's a different spell in every single one of them. Whatever is the case, the eye tyrant surely has both eyes and spells aplenty. Every one of its eyestalks is a deadly ranged weapon and the single large eye in its spheroid, floating body - the one just above the ferocious mouth - can disable all magical effects on the adventurer.
