The northeast corner of Betancuria West is bloody and blocked off with barricades. If the Princess approaches, she'll be told the area has been blocked off because there's a criminal on the loose. Unlike the impassable barricades blocking the restricted Dhorn area in the south, it's possible to slip through the gaps in these barricades and enter the crime zone if the Princess wishes to outdo the Dhorn with some amateur sleuthing.
Sneaking past the barricade will turn Dhorn in the area hostile, but they'll become neutral once the Princess walks past the barricade again.
The northern barricade can be squeezed past by hugging the wall, while the southern barricade can be bypassed by wiggling through the gap at the center. As long as the Princess’s stealth is good enough, the Dhorn guarding it won’t notice her even if she bumps into them.

Most of the buildings in the area are filled with murder victims or investigating Dhorn. Through a secret door in the catacombs under the chapel, the Princess can find the murderer, an orc fugitive. He'll chat for a bit, and then attack her. It's a tough fight, but he has some very good gear to loot.
- The first secret door in the crypt is in the small room on your immediate left as you descend the stairs. There are meshing issues with this tile set in the most recent EE patches, so the Princess might suddenly be walking up in the air as you enter the room—even if this happens, you can still interact with everything in the room below as if you were standing on the floor.)
- The second secret door is near two gargoyles who will spring to life as you approach. They have significant resistance to unenchanted physical weapons (DR 15/+1) - you’ll want at least a +1 weapon or a good source of elemental damage.
- Equipment includes a Bone Ring (immune to ability drain, including items with an ability score penalty or poison/disease) in the sarcophagus, and a Mantle of Stealth (+10 to Hide and Move Silently) on the orc.
