Overview[]
Mando Halley tasks the Princess with breaking into the closely guarded Dhorn Barracks. Once there, she is to remain hidden from the Dhorn and find and retrieve a register with names of all the Dhorn soldiers in the area.
The quest is received from Mando in the hideout (sewers) after completing the Nice Company and Mayor's Mansion quests for him.

- This is a job for an expert rogue.
- Stealing money intended for wages for all those poor Dhorn soldiers working hard patrolling the streets of Betancuria, killing thieves on site and torturing people for fun, is considered to be an unlawful action. Duh!

Overview[]
This is an optional quest during Part One.
Ask Mando in the hideout (sewers) for a job after completing the Nice Company and Mayor's Mansion quests for him, and he will ask you to do another burglary.
The basics of this quest are the same between Part One v1.50 and the Enhanced Edition Remake. You break into the Dhorn Barracks, sneak into the locked and guarded offices, and steal the registry Mando requested - but let's be honest, Mando's mission is a side objective and you're mostly here for the opportunity to loot the nearby Payroll Office of 45,000 gp.
However, the exact locations differ between the versions, so this guide has different sections for each.
Walkthrough - EE Remake[]
The Dhorn Barracks are located in the restricted area of Betancuria West. If you haven't already opened up a path to this quarter, you'll have to do that first. If you already have access, there are two ways inside the barracks:
The first is through the sewers. Using the door inside 14, Mercenary's Way in Betancuria West will drop you off right near where you want to be. Proceed past the gate and the lever you previously pulled, and make your way to the southeast corner of this sewer map. The door here drops you directly into the barracks (#1).
The second way is though the front door. If you're already topside in the restricted area for another reason, you can head to the barracks in the southeast corner and pick the front door (#2).
Once you're inside, head to the block of rooms on the northwest side of the barracks.
#3 is the payroll office. While the DC to unlock the door and the chests inside is quite high, the chests contain a total of 45,000 gp. A single casting of Knock (which you can do from a scroll with Use Magic Device) will unlock the door and all the chests in one go.
The desk at #4 has the registry Mando is looking for.
Sneak back out, and take the registry to Mando to receive your reward.

Walkthrough - v1.50[]
As of version 1.40 the entrance to the barracks has been move to 18, Temple Street located left of the barracks. Head down into the cellar, you'll notice a trapdoor behind the stairs and go down.
How convenient, the sewers seem to go to the right direction! Be wary of the gelatinous cube; you can distract it or kill it. Go through the door and find a ladder up. You have discovered an overlooked trapdoor in a storage room in the Dhorn Barracks!
Needless to say, the Dhorn will kill you on sight. Keep your stealth on and avoid the enemy.
Proceed through the kitchen and the mess hall (#2) towards the main entrance (#3). On the eastern wall is a door (#4) guarded by a soldier. Pick the lock and slip forth. A-ha, you have found the offices. The registry you are looking for is inside the desk in the Personnel office (#5).
| Tip: You may want to search the quarters next to it as well. The door to the Payroll office (#6) requires a Pick Lock check of 50 (or one casting of Knock) and contains 45,000 GP all in all. Woohooo! Stealing money intended for wages for all those poor Dhorn soldiers working hard patrolling the streets of Betancuria, killing thieves on site and turturing people for fun, is considered to be unlawfull action, and will grant you 5 chaotic alignment points per chest. |
Return the way you came, into the trap door (#1) and through the sewers to 18, Temple Street.
Take the registry to Mando to receive your reward.

| Note: In v1.30, the entrance to the Barracks was in Run-down Barracks nearby. Apparently they have been closed down due to an illness affecting its inhabitants, and the door is watched by a single guard. In very early versions of the story entering the barracks was required as a part of the Dhorn Slayer quest, and the way from Run-down barracks passed through a lair of vampires. A note about the men being drained of energy can still be found on the bookshelf near the registry. |
